The Torsades ice bucket was created in 1981 by Studio Christofle. This piece exudes great refinement. A rounded, flared body—featuring a surface of flat, twisted ribs—is attached to a rounded, stepped base. These ribs, contrasting with the base, create a sense of lightness. When caught in the light, the facets give the impression of a piece in motion. This is the essence of Christofle’s creative genius: crafting a substantial piece of silverware while creating a design that makes it appear lighter.
