Table Spoon
Before the 18th century, it was customary in European countries to bring their own spoons to the table, as personal property. Later on, the place setting became popular, along with the "table-spoon", "table-fork" and "table-knife". Around the same time, the tea-spoon and dessert-spoon first appeared, and the table-spoon was reserved for eating soup. In most places, one tablespoon (15 ml) equals three teaspoons.
