This Cocktail Shaker was created by Christofle in 1942 (and renamed Shaker Meribel in 1962). The art of the cocktail appeared on the other side of the Atlantic in the 19th century, when distillers were able to produce a variety of high-quality bottled spirits. These drinks spread to Europe after the First World War, and became a favourite at parties during the Belle Epoque. For high society, cocktails became a way of distinguishing themselves. Naturally, Christofle could not ignore this new art of living and added a ‘bar’ section to its catalogue at the beginning of the 20th century.
