This cream pitcher is part of a tea service featuring bow-shaped handles, claw-foot bases, and a guilloché-patterned base. This intricate design is a variation of the Liseron service, one of the first designed by Christofle in the 19th century. Although the model appears only in the 1898 catalog, these pieces were produced around 1889–1893.

Having become famous, Maison Christofle was solicited by foreign sovereigns such as Emperor Maximilian of Mexico, the Tsar of Russia, Germany of the Kaiser, the Austro-Hungarian Empire and Sultan Abdulaziz of the Ottoman Empire.
